Michael L Walker
Dr Michael Walker completed his undergraduate degree at Monash University with a double major in physics and pure mathematics. After completing a Master of Advanced Studies in mathematics (Part III of the Tripos) at Cambridge University he did his PhD at the Australian National University in theoretical physics. Michael's postdoctoral positions include a BK21 fellowship at Seoul National University, two years of physics lecturing at Kyung Hee University in Korea and a JSPS fellowship at Chiba University. After Japan, Michael worked in Montpellier, France with a group called "Virtual Plants" (http://www-sop.inria.fr/virtualplants/wiki/doku.php) modelling hormone transport in the floral meristem of the model plant arabidopsis thaliana. He is now facilitating his move into bioinformatics with a second PhD, this time in the pathology department at Melbourne University. He also runs a consultancy for research oriented analysis and coding services (http://www.schrocat.net). Michael has a wife and 7yo daughter.
